explain to sb sth /explain sth to sb

为何一个带 to 一个不带，难道一个及物一个不及物么应该都一样才对吧？

explain 是及物动词。其实，这两个都带to，你仔细看看：

1. explain sth to sb

2. explain to sb sth

但不能跟双宾语，不可以说：explain sb sth。

句型2是句型1的变式，有时由于explain 的宾语太长而后置。

比如：

He explained the reason to us. 他向大家讲解了缘由。

He explained to us the reason why he was late. 他向大家讲解了迟到是什么原因。
